It is disappointing
for a Seventh-day Adventist or any other from other Protestant churches to come
out to ask or support the government to criminalize homosexuality or other
vices that are contrary to the Bible.
I say it is disappointing
because it shows the highest level of ignorance regarding both the Bible and
history especially the history of Protestantism.
It is not protestant
to stand against other’s rights because Protestantism itself only existed and
still exists in parts of the world where freedom exists, where people are free
to practice religion or pursue happiness according to their conscience.
Protestants who ask or
support governments to criminalise ways in which people pursue their happiness are
actually orchestrating the union of church and state which is one of the
leading evils against dispensation of freedom.

When people act
contrary to the Bible, it’s against Protestant doctrines for a believer to think
of employing the state to crackdown on them as a way of favouring Biblical values
in our societies.
I strongly belief
that the right thing is to pray and preach after all we’re not here to change
the world into a better place for believers but to proclaim the Kingdom of God which
proclamation needs freedom.
Freedom cannot be
freedom when it comes to favour a certain group of people and restrict others –
that’s not God’s freedom.

Matthew 13:24-30 is
an illustrative parable of someone who sowed good see but then tare or weeds grew
among the good seeds.
The servants wanted
the garden owner to remove the weeds such that there could only remain the good
crops but the owner of the garden refused.
“But he said, Nay; lest while ye
gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
“Let both grow
together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest, I will say to the
reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn
them: but gather the wheat into my barn” Matthew 13:29-30 says.
Here, Jesus is
emphasizing the theme of freedom in this world where both good and evil will be
allowed to exist.

It’s clear that if
the anyone assumes the authority to block those who vex Bible believers, the
same person can at another time turn and take away the rights of Bible
believers.
The ideas that
peace only exists when all have become one is wrong― Peace is possible when all
respect each other in variety.
This is one of
the reasons the Protestant nations of USA and Britain refused to join the
League of Nations that the Catholic France had tainted with the idea of a strong
world system to bring the world under control as a way of preventing a second
world war.
The League of Nations
failed because of its ill ideas.
Britain and USA
staged the United Nations, declaring the Universal Human Rights that give freedom
for all into politics, religion and pursue happiness in ways that please them.
The Unites
Nations has stood a test of time, nearly a century now and if it does not deviate
to try to force under a single power, the world will have more years of peace.

Let me conclude with
this question, if we convince our governments to criminalise whatever the Bible
condemns, what will we tell our Saviour that we endured in this world?
If the Roman Catholic
Church used state authorities and killed 50 million people between 600AD-1800s
just because those people refused to be Catholicism, what would the Protestants
be better than them when they too seek state authorities to condemn homosexuals?
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Mark 16:16
