Zelensky
turns to the Vatican ahead of Pope’s consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the
Roman Catholic Virgin Mary
Ukrainian
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has talked to the Vatican leader Pope Francis
ahead of the consecration of his country and Russia to the Roman Catholic
Virgin Mary scheduled for 25th March 2022.
Zelenskyy who has been virtually going around the world soliciting support against the Russian invasion of his country this time cited mediation and prayer from the head of the Roman Catholic Church.
“The mediating
role of the Holy See [the Roman Catholic Church as an entity] in ending human
suffering would be appreciated” he said in a tweet today.
The virtual head
of state Zelensky said that they discussed humanitarian challenges which he
said are brought by the Russian troops and thanked Pope Francis for praying for
peace.
“[We] talked about the difficult humanitarian situation and the blocking of rescue corridors by Russian troops, ... thanked for the prayers for Ukraine and peace” he tweeted today.

The Roman
Catholic grand day of the consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the virgin Mary
to bring peace by pope Francis will be held at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican.
Former Pope
Benedict will also join the consecration, according to the National Catholic
Register report on 21st March 2022.
"Of course,
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will join Pope Francis' call in prayer with regard
to the consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary,” the
National Catholic Register reported.
The whole Roman
Catholic Church in the world and others who pay reverence to the Pope for his
acts of the common good will join in to consecrate the countries in turmoil to
Virgin Mary to bring about peace.
“The Vatican has
confirmed that the Pope has asked all bishops of the world to join him in the
consecration” the National Catholic Register reported.
Reports say that
the Roman Catholic Church bishops in Ukraine urgently requested their holy
father to dedicate a day of prayer to the Virgin Mary to bring about peace in the war-ravaged
Ukraine.
“Pope Francis
agreed to conduct the consecration of the two countries in response to an
urgent request from the Latin rite bishops of Ukraine” the National Catholic
Register said.
The Roman
Catholic Church see and delight in their pope as a world spiritual and
political leader and in their Easter Blessing Magazine of this year, they call
him “a global leader, an international diplomat”
The Seventh-day
Adventist Church also dedicated a Sabbath at the breakout of the war and prayed
for Ukraine.
