FAITH Reporters

I have learnt of families that were locked inside their houses on conditions that they would go out only after they have accepted vaccination. Others are in custody for not accepting vaccination and many who, after being overcome by the inhuman treatment by authorities, have accepted to have the substance they feared into their bodies to buy their freedom from custody. I have learnt about many squatting in bushes and thickets while others have crossed crocodile-infested rivers into the jungles in the neighbouring countries. Some have been intercepted in any way by Rwandan authorities as they try to cross the borders, a country that has a long history of its people finding refuge in the neighbouring countries. The stories Last week, the government of Rwanda in Central Africa started implementing measures that restrict the unvaccinated from accessing essential services including public transport. As a Kigali City dweller, little did I know that the hunting of the unvaccinated ...

Journey to Africa’s highest point – Kibo Kilimanjaro

Our family is living in Tanzania, East Africa, from China. No need to share with you the reason for our being in Tanzania but I'll share with you my experience trekking Mountain Kilimanjaro. Journey to the highest point in Africa, Mountain Kilimanjaro in Tanzania / Faith Reporters It's November morning 2022 at Moshi in East Africa’s largest country, Tanzania. I’ll surely share with you our story but let me first share with you our first visit to Mountain Kilimanjaro. A Toyota Landcruiser has come to pick me and my Love for a trek to Africa’s highest point, Uhuru peak at Mountain Kilimanjaro. 30 minutes through the jungle, we arrive at Kilimanjaro National Park gate and do some paperwork as our ten porters have their luggage measured to 20 kilograms limit. We have our lunch at a village called Machame from where we start trekking into the rainforest in the afternoon. Before we started the journey, you may find it weird, we agreed to sleep in separate tents during the ...

A rainy-day gas reserve for Canada

Canada is sitting on the third-largest oil reserves in the world, yet when a crisis hits and supply is disrupted, we are at the mercy of the markets without our own reserve stock. Life in Canada is becoming unaffordable, and Canadians are desperate for relief. Canadians paid almost 55 per cent more for gasoline in June than they did the year before and, as everyone pays more for fuel, it’s driving up the costs of everything else we buy. Driving is less affordable, and reports show Canadians are cutting back on essentials, even eating less food because of the higher prices . Food banks are overwhelmed, and demand only seems to be growing. While the Liberals would like to blame it all on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, taxes, broader global supply chain challenges, and a lack of domestic production are all at play. Depending on where you live in the country, gas taxes could make up to 38 per cent of the price you pay at the pump . So as gas prices have soared, the government has...

Our Advocate's message in the judgement hour

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,” Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. (Revelation 14:6-7) Both the everlasting gospel and the gospel of the kingdom promised in Matthew 24:14 are proclaimed to all peoples at the close of world history. It is a blessing that all of us have an opportunity to hear this message at such a time. We could be among the last individuals Jesus brings into His kingdom before His ministry to save mankind concludes. Fear God and give glory to Him: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. God wants us to have a sense of fear to disobey Him. A sense of reverence for God and His law is the first step towards discovering God's ways and His kingdom. Without this ...

BREAKING: Joe Biden tests positive for COVID-19

Having received two doses and two boosters, US President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in a press release this morning noted that the man who will turn 80 in November this year had mild symptoms for Covid. “He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing mild symptoms,” the statement said adding that “consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate and will continue to carry out all of his duties during that time.” Jean-Pierre also said that the White House will continue to provide daily updates regarding the situation “out of an abundance of transparency.” This diagnosis comes the day after Joe Biden publicly said that he had cancer at a press conference about climate justice. Joe Biden, like other Trudeau, Macron, or any other “Covid drummers” has consistently said: "You're not going to get covid if you have these vaccinations."

Pastor weighs in on Uganda’s cleaning mandate on Sabbaths

Pastor weights in on Uganda’s cleaning mandate on Sabbaths Pastor Immanuel Ogwal, the Africa Regional Director at Adventist World Radio (AWR) wrote an open letter to the church leadership in Uganda and the church at large, voicing concerns about the government's cleaning mandate held on Sabbaths and what was called exemption for the Seventh-day Adventists. Faith Reporters obtained a copy and this is what it says: Image of Pastor Immanuel Ogwal on X A concern about the S abbath exemption and the precedent we may be setting By Pastor Immanuel Ogwal Adventist World Radio (AWR) Africa Region Director ................... I commend the leadership of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda for engaging the Government on the issue of communal cleaning scheduled for the last Sabbath of the month. I understand that, following these engagements with the Prime Minister, Adventists have been granted an exemption, with the understanding that we may undertake the cleaning o...

Rwanda Judiciary’s handling of medical negligence cases, very welcome

I had the privilege to represent in a case in which Gasabo Intermediate Court awarded Rwf125 million to a family whose child was debilitated when the medics delayed helping the mother in labour to deliver. By Audace Ngabo Muhirwa King Faisal Hospital and the family I represented had a long legal battle before the court from Feb 2020 until last week when the court ruled in favour of the family. You can imagine how massive the evidence and arguments, especially based on the Law N° 49/2012 of 22/01/2013 establishing medical professional liability insurance, both of us submitted before the court. The court put our evidence and arguments on its balance scale of what the Law establishing medical professional liability insurance says and the report of experts on the child. The Rwanda Medical and Dental Council guided the experts in making the reports until the fourth one on which the court depended. The report had to ascertain and explain to the court what happened to t...

All set for Dutch farmers protest in Amsterdam tomorrow

Dutch farmers are heading to the capital Amsterdam tomorrow 23rd July 2022 for a massive protest against the government's climate change measures claimed to curb nitrogen emissions. Routes for demonstrators' tractors and vehicles decorated with supportive messages / Faith Reporters The Dutch government seeks to cut nitrogen oxide and ammonia pollutants by 50 percent by 2030 with measures that trample over the country’s measures that saved the Netherlands from starvation and famine post-WWII. According to the Science journal, “Dutch farms contain four times more animal biomass per hectare than the European Union average” and “Dutch agriculture is responsible for nearly half of nitrogen pollution that falls in the country”. The so-called climate-friendly regulations may force farmers to cut production and herd numbers by up to 30 percent to meet emission requirements by the state. On farms near national parks, the government plans to cut greenhouse gas nitrogen by up to 70 ...

What if the authorities are in the bandwagon of the ungodly?

Set aside the common perception on the Book of Psalms as mere sources of comfort when facing challenges with your friends. (By the way, first read Psalm 1 in your Bible to be able to follow the flow of this article.) Flags of nations. Faith Reporters By Kelly Rwamapera The first Psalm, like the rest of scripture, transcends our daily interactions; it illustrates the great controversy between good and evil—the forces of Jesus versus those of the devil in a real-life struggle. The psalm presents two opposing groups in the world: the righteous and the ungodly, which includes sinners and the scornful in one bandwagon. (Verse 1) “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” The psalm makes it clear that there is a group referred to as the “ungodly,” who create ideas (counsel) and spread them among people, forming a bandwagon of the ungodly. Those who follow the guidance of the u...
