Nancy Pelosi arrives in Taipei Taiwan: Situation updates

China announces military drills encircling Taiwan

The Communist party’s military wing, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has announced that they will hold military drills, naming areas around Taiwan.

The exercises are reportedly in response to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taipei, and will be held from August 4-6.

Meanwhile, on Pelosi’s arrival, the Chinese Foreign Ministry commented that they were going to take necessary measures to protect state sovereignty.

“We will take all necessary measures to protect state sovereignty and territorial integrity, the consequences will be the responsibility of the United States and Taipei”

China’s Tuesday Night Military Drills to Include Conventional Missile Tests

According to the Global Times, long-range artillery firing in the Taiwan Straits, as well as missile tests, will be set to begin on August 2 in the evening.

That’s to “resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the Ministry of National Defense said in response to Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taipei.




Taiwan Defence Ministry: 21 Chinese warplanes entered Taiwan

The Taiwan Ministry of Defence has announced that 21 Chinese warplanes have entered Taiwan's Air Defence Identification Zone.

The defence ministry website has identified the warplanes as J-11 aircraft 8 sorties (EIGHT J-11), J-16 10 sorties (Ten J-16), Air Police-500 aircraft 1 sortie (One KJ-500 AEW&C), Yun-9 communication countermeasure aircraft 1 sortie (One Y-9 EW) and Yun-8 reconnaissance aircraft 1 sortie (One Y-8 ELINT).

The defence ministry has announced an interception against China's provocation.

“Dispatch air patrol forces to respond, broadcast expulsion, and monitor anti-aircraft missiles,” the ministry said adding that “CAP aircraft tasked, radio warnings issued and air defence missile systems deployed to monitor the activities”.
